Szijjarto: Hungary demands permit to sell products from Russian oil
BUDAPEST, Dec 11 (PRIME) -- Budapest will veto the 12th E.U. package of anti-Russian sanctions, if Brussels does not allow Hungarian energy company MOL to sell oil products made from Russian oil to Croatia and the Czech Republic, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto told reporters on Monday.
The regulations that allowed MOL to export the oil products to the countries expired on December 5, he said.
“We’ve made it clear that we will not veto the sanctions package if MOL is allowed to export the oil products to the Czech and Croatian markets further,” he said.
Hungary also denied an offer from the E.U. to reduce the intake of Russian oil through the Druzhba export pipeline.
“During the negotiations, we denied an attempt to accelerate the deadline for exclusion of Hungary from the purchases of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline. There was a country that wished to terminate our exemption fast,” he said, reiterating that Hungary would not support any sanctions that would hurt its national interests.
